Headstand Tutorial

August 29, 2011

Esther Ekhart shows us a safe and easy way into the headstand.Try this pose after doing the warming up in the previous video. Do it under the guidance of a teacher the first time :-) Just to make sure your alignment is good. Its always ok to try this against a wall, making sure there is NO WEIGHT on the head, all in the arms! So you cannot harm your neck due to alignment issues if you are not sure. Have fun trying…

  1. I will do it, Esther!

  2. @Camelia361 Hi Camelia, that doesn’t sound right. It could be an alignment issue . However the next time you try, try it with a life teacher to make sure you are doing it right. Your body tells you it doesn’t like it, you should listen! Take care,

Have you any advice for a tripod headstand (Mukta Hasta Sirsana)? Specifically about weight distribution between the hands, shoulders and head?

  6. hi, Esther! I enjoy watching all of your videos, you are so elegant and your body is beautiful. But about this one… i feel a hard pain in my chest after I get out of the headstand. I get in a child pose, and here I start felling the pain, and as i breathe in it hurts a lot. It doesn’t last long, just for 5-7 seconds, but i am still worried.
